           PTSA Board Position Description Summaries

 

President or 2 Co-Presidents – preside at meetings and oversee the Board business. Become familiar with the PTSA mission and purposes, policies, principles, and duties. Know and follow the bylaws of the association. Become familiar with basic financial procedures. Act as signer on all financial accounts, sign all contracts, and check request authorizations for payment and reimbursements. Review monthly bank statements.

Secretary - Record minutes of each meeting; Gain approval for minutes; Determine the presence of a quorum at meetings; Serve as emergency signatory; Other duties.

Treasurer – make sure new signature cards are on file with the bank as soon as new officers take their positions. Make sure the PTA has proper insurance. Ensure the local unit is incorporated and pays renewal fees annually. Keeps an accurate and detailed account of all monies received and paid out. Give the treasurer’s report at all meetings.

Co-VPs Academic Enrichment – Work together with Chairs to accomplish Reflections showcase, Honors Night, Honor Roll Recognition, Mini Grants to teachers, and Student Ambassadors.

VP Administrative Support - Work together to facilitate the work of the Front Office Volunteers, Attendance Office Volunteers, College Commitment Board, College and Career Fair, and Scholarships.


VP Partners in Education – cultivate relationships with local businesses to secure donations, sponsorships, and other forms of support for the school and PTSA activities in conjunction with JCHS administration.

VP Communications - Accomplishes the weekly newsletter and social media updates.

VP Legislation - Work together to stay abreast of legislation as it pertains to education and schools, attend a PTSA Day at the Capitol, and inform students about the value of voter registration.

Co-VPs Membership - Work together to coordinate annual membership drive; Strive to meet budgeted goals; Manage membership reports to GA PTA and other information updates; Submit monthly membership dues requests to Treasurer; Work to provide incentives to members; Manage brick order and installments; Update PTSA website through Membership Toolkit; provide membership information upon request; manage matching donations.

Co-VPs Senior Activities - Work together with Chairs to accomplish Senior Treats, Senior Breakfast/Lunch, Senior Carnival, and Yard Signs.

Co-VPs Staff Support – Work together with JCHS administration to recognize teacher/staff birthdays, lunches, breakfasts, and staff appreciation week.

VP Technology - Manages PTSA web portal, Google Drive, and email platform; problem-solves any issues with technology.

VP Volunteers – Manage a list of volunteers and routinely create a Sign Up Genius for the various volunteer needs.

Co-VPs Student Support - Work together to conduct Wellness Wednesdays throughout the year.

SAT/ACT Practice Test Opportunity

Huntington Learning Center is offering students a chance to take a full-length SAT/ACT practice test and receive personalized feedback on their strengths and areas for improvement.
Students will meet with Huntington's team to review results and receive a customized plan
to help increase test scores and prepare for college admissions. 

Dates: March 21 or March 28, 
3:00 PM
Location: Huntington Learning Center, 10305 Medlock Bridge Rd, Johns Creek, GA
Grades 10-12
Cost: $100 (50% of proceeds support JCHS)

We need help passing out ICE POPS and monitor outdoor games.  
Please sign up through the PTSA SignUpGenius below. 

Make sure that you have completed the Fulton County School Volunteer training 48 hours prior to the event. This training is good for two years. Remember to bring your valid driver's license in order to check in as a volunteer at the front office.

 Staff Appreciation Day
March 31: 2 volunteers per lunch period to help distribute boxed lunches from Honey Baked Ham.
 April 1: 2 volunteers per lunch period to assist with a hot buffet lunch.
April 2: 2 volunteers per lunch period to assist with the cheesecake bar.
 
Graduation Day
May 14: 2 volunteers from 3:00 PM to 4:15 PM to hand out boxed meals to staff before the graduation ceremony.

ACT TESTING
 
We are in need of parent volunteers to help with ACT testing on the morning of March 26
This is an easy job and gives you a chance to help out inside JCHS.

Time slots are 2 hours long but you can sign up for more than one.
If you are able to only cover 1 hour, we can still use your help.
