PTSA Mini-Grant Spotlight

The PTSA mini-grants, made possible by the generous support of our PTSA members, fuel innovative projects across our school community.  This week we highlight two of the recipients of the mini-grants and the projects they supported.

James Johnson: Restaurant in Real Life Project

The PTSA Mini-Grant is so beneficial to our Hospitality Program. The funds are used to help execute our
Restaurant in Real Life Project where students learn valuable management skills. This capstone project
requires students to create a restaurant concept, and then have it come to life in our classroom. The
grant has allowed us to buy the many food items and utensils to create our restaurant. The students
have such a memorable experience in the project, and it is with the help of the PTSA and we are so
grateful.

Santhi Prabahar: Academic Bowl Club

Johns Creek Academic Bowl rocking nationals!
The Johns Creek A team placed 1 st  out of 32 teams from all over Georgia this past
Saturday going 10-0 overall rounds and have placed 2nd at two other tournaments this
season!
The Johns Creek B team represented Johns Creek at Junior Varsity Tournaments,
placing 1 st  out of 11 teams at GATA Winter, and placing 2nd out of 16 teams for Phoenix
Bowl Jr.
This year two teams are qualified for nationals (NAQT and PACE). This is the second
year PTSA granted money for registration for the nationals. PTSA mini grants helped us
tremendously to cover the Nationals registration fees. Thank you so much for the
generous gift by PTSA for Academic Bowl. Our Johns creek students are nationally
recognized by this program!

Free Webinar: The Superpowers of Readers
Friday, June 6. 5-5:45 pm

Did you know weak vocabulary and holes in the grammar get in the way of high SAT/ACT scores and strong college essays? Most college applicants can't name all the parts of speech. Learn in this webinar actionable steps you and your children can take to build their verbal skills for success in and outside the classroom. Books are food for the mind and give readers superpowers for the hypercompetitive road to college admissions. Let’s have our kids put down their phones and pick up a book this summer!

Write@DianaHa.org for the registration link.

Standout College Essays

Do you have children who could use help starting or leveling up their college essays this summer? Georgia Tech received 60,000 applications for 4,000 freshmen seats last school year and on average admits only 10 students from JCHS each year. Your student is in great hands with Johns Creek's Ivy League linguist and college prep specialist who has led workshops on great college essays in Fulton, Forsyth, and Gwinnett county school districts. For model essays, Dos and Don'ts, laser beam attention that will highlight your child's best, email Write@DianaHa.org

As we race toward the finish line of this academic year, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of you who have generously given your time and energy volunteering at our school. Your support has made a real difference in our community.

To the parents of graduating seniors without younger children at the school—we offer our warmest congratulations and a fond farewell. Thank you for all you’ve done over the years. You’ll be missed!

Volunteer Opportunity

The PTSA is currently seeking a Library/Media Center Volunteer Coordinator for the 2025-26 school year. This role involves working with Ms. Robertson to understand the library’s needs and organizing volunteer support. If you have strong organizational skills and a bit of time to spare, we’d love to have your help in this meaningful role.  Please reach out to Kristen Bush (kristenbush@yahoo.com) with any questions.

 Volunteers:

JCHS often needs parent volunteers, so please join the PTSA!

All school volunteers will need to register to assist with working in the office, attendance office, drama department, team meals, senior treats, Wellness Wednesday, senior carnival, chaperones, etc.

Any task that will allow you to interact with students will require you to register as a volunteer.

Please follow the link to access the FCS Volunteer Registration page. Register as a Volunteer - Fulton County School System (fultonschools.org)

All visitors must remember to bring in their driver's license each time they sign in. This is non-negotiableThe license will need to be scanned each time they come to the office. It will not hold onto the information like the other system. So, if you are coming in for a parent/counseling/teacher/administrator meeting, you must remember to bring your license. It must be the physical license, digital will not suffice.
