VOLUNTEERS
Beginning Wednesday, January 3, 2024, Fulton County Schools began utilizing the CheckMate Sign-In system to welcome visitors and volunteers into our schools. This has replaced the Raptor system. Despite feedback from office staff, the Volunteer Registration database did not roll over into the new system. Unfortunately, all school volunteers will need to re-register to assist with working in the office, attendance office, drama department, team meals, senior treats, Wellness Wednesday, senior carnival, chaperones, etc. Any task that will allow you to interact with students will require you to re-register. We apologize for the inconvenience, but it is out of our hands. Please follow the link to access the FCS Volunteer Registration page.
Finally, all visitors must remember to bring in their driver's license each time they sign in. This is non-negotiable. The license will need to be scanned each time they come to the office. It will not hold onto the information like the other system. So, if you are coming in for a parent/counseling/teacher/administrator meeting, you must remember to bring your license. It can't be digital either.
Thank you for being patient as we implement this new safety procedure.

The Baccalaureate is an inspirational ceremony for family and friends to honor our graduates on Sunday, April 28 @ 3:00 pm at Johns Creek Baptist Church. While the ceremony is faith based, it is NOT associated with any specific religion or denomination. We will be having faith-based guest speakers from the Christian, Catholic and Jewish sectors, community leaders and students speak to our graduates as they prepare to step into adulthood. Our JCHS orchestra and chorus will also be performing. This event is not affiliated with the PTSA but coordinated by a committee of parent volunteers. A monetary contribution of $30 per family is greatly appreciated as this is solely funded by donations. Is Your Child Ready for the New SAT?
Starting in 2024, the SAT is going from pen/paper to 100% digital. Students will be asked to bring in a wifi-enabled tablet or laptop on the test day. In addition, the question format has changed significantly. Instead of three sections of the test, there will be four stages, two for English and two for Math — and question difficulty will be determined algorithmically for each student.
It’s important to understand these changes and how they affect your child’s college admissions strategy. IvyMath is running a free course for Johns Creek families this month. They will cover:
- Are standardized tests really optional for elite colleges?
- ACT or digital SAT? How do the new changes affect your decision?
- What is the SAT Bluebook App and how will it work on test day?
- How to use the new countdown-clock and flagging features of the test
- Study plan and homework recommendations for preparing for the new SAT
This free course is for both students and parents. There will be an opportunity to ask questions. At the end, we'll have an optional time for students to work through a practice exam in the new digital SAT format.
Please register quickly. This course is free, but there is limited space available for Spring dates: IvyMath.com/SATPrep
