PTSA Scholarships

The PTSA funds & awards three scholarships for our seniors each year. And the winners for 2022 are . . .

All-rounder Scholarship - Omer Mujawer The All-rounder Scholarship is directed toward seniors who have been involved in many different clubs, activities, and jobs both at JCHS and beyond. We want to recognize students with multiple talents who project “do-it-all” energy. Omer has been involved in Principal's Leaders Advisory Board, FBLA, Mock Trial, Academic Bowl, Student Council, and the Philharmonia Orchestra. He is also a National Merit Scholarship finalist and this year's valedictorian.

Trailblazer Scholarship - Aarya Matharu The Trailblazer Scholarship will seek out seniors who have demonstrated extreme depth in one or two activities during their years at JCHS - students who have embraced their passion and grown with it during high school. Aarya is passionate about music. She has been playing the cello for over 10 years. She has played in the top ranked orchestra at Johns Creek and been on the Johns Creek Orchestra Leadership team. She has been a member of the Fulton County Honor Orchestra and an All-State finalist. She has been a recital soloist and played with Notes of Joy, a community service orchestra group that plays at assisted living homes.

Laurel Schmitt Service Scholarship

The Laurel Schmitt Service Scholarship is named after a member of our Johns Creek PTSA community. This scholarship focuses on community service. The winners of this scholarship will demonstrate service to our school, the greater Atlanta community as well as service done on a national or international level. Thanks to the generosity of the Schmitt Family this year we are happy to be able to award this scholarship to three dedicated seniors.

Erykah Glass. Throughout her four years of high school, Erykah has volunteered with numerous organizations, including Ronald McDonald House, North Fulton Community Charities, Foster Care Support Foundation, Chattahoochee Nature Center, and Blessings in a Backpack.

Kate Kinnamon. Kate has been involved with the Special Olympics at both a local and world level. She was chosen as the Ambassador for the state of Georgia for the World Special Olympics for the last two years. She is also involved with Youth Leaders Educating Others about Disabilities and the PALS program here at Johns Creek.

Carson Kennedy. Carson has been involved with FOCUS (Fast) Fins, where he teaches kids with physical or developmental disabilities how to swim and water skills. He also created a GoFundMe project to raise money to provide meals to frontline workers in March and April of 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic.

The PTSA sponsored a reception for Honors Night chaired by Yingtao Zhou.  Parents, students and staff enjoyed the refreshments served prior to the award ceremony.

 Celebrating Johns Creek Staff

Last week we celebrated Staff Appreciation Week at The Creek! What a wonderful way to show our admiration and gratitude to those that teach our teens every day! JCHS is lucky to have such a terrific group of teachers and administrators at our school. Each of them has worked so hard to provide a consistent and caring environment for students.

To show them our appreciation for all that they do, we provided a Chick-Fil-A breakfast, A&S Culinary Concepts catered lunch, Sara Donuts, Starbucks coffee, and days filled with treats and candy. Friday, the staff was surprised with a gift card giveaway.

Thank you to the generous donations from the JCHS families who made all of this possible and also to the following businesses that donated to the giveaway: All Inspired Boutique, River Pines Golf, and The Patio Cafe and Bakery.

Here's a quick slideshow of some of what happened this week:

Senior Gold Envelopes!

The JCHS Senior Events Committee is sponsoring Senior Gold Envelopes for all graduating seniors. This tradition is a special opportunity to honor our 2022 graduates with personalized notes or cards to commemorate this distinctive event in their lives. We invite you, other family members, friends, VIPs and members of the JCHS faculty to write notes of congratulations to your son or daughter. We will collect these cards and notes for each student and distribute them before graduation. Every senior will be presented with a large Gold Envelope containing the collected notes and cards. The notes and cards will be kept confidential until graduation.

How it works:

  • Ask your family and friends to write a card or letter congratulating your senior.
  • Have them mail or deliver to your home address.
  • Bring all cards and letters to school from May 2 - 6, 2022 – there will be a drop-off station. More details to come as we get closer.
  • Do not bring money or gifts. Only cards or letters no larger than 8.5 x 11.
  • Include on the envelope:
    • STUDENT’S FULL NAME
    • Johns Creek HS – Senior Gold Envelopes

All cards/letters must be received by May 6, 2022! Unfortunately, no exceptions can be made.

Let’s show the Class of 2022 how special they are to us and that we acknowledge their achievements over the last 12 years.

Calling all volunteers!

We need parent volunteers to help with textbook inventory. It’s really easy! We need one or 2 parents to go to the book rooms and scan the books in our system. Ms. Robyn Vogel will show you how to scan the textbook inventory on the school laptops.

Grab a friend or neighbor and spend a couple hours catching up while helping our JCHS media center! It's a quick and easy way to help out our school.

If you have not registered as a volunteer since January of 2021, please click the link below:

https://www.fultonschools.org/Page/9539

Also, be sure to sign in as a volunteer in the front office upon arrival. We appreciate YOU!

Volunteers, Please Read!

If you have signed up to volunteer for any event you must sign in as a Volunteer, not Visitor.

Volunteers who have an expired registration or who have not completed the mandatory volunteer registration and training, as required by Fulton County Schools, will not be able to volunteer as it is a Safety & Security issue on campus.

Training is only valid for two (2) years, so if you cannot recall when you last received training, it may be time to renew.  Luckily, it's quick and easy!

Click on the link below ⬇️ to get started or renew your registration and training.
