Advocate from Home!
Feel Strongly about an Issue? Advocate from Home!
Do you or your student feel strongly about an issue? Extra time at home is a great time to advocate for issues that are important to you! Legislators at local, state, and national levels really do want to hear from you and your students about the issues that you are passionate about. You can email, post on their social media areas, write a letter, or pick up the phone and call.
Not sure exactly who your legislators are or how to reach them? To find your Georgia state and US congress legislators, go to
mvp.sos.ga.gov, and when you enter your information, you will see a box for "Your Elected Officials". Just follow the links to contact information for each. Johns Creek City Council information is at
https://www.johnscreekga.gov/residents/city-council.
Get an issues discussion going with your family. Search online for relevant state and national bills under consideration. Contacting legislators on important issues is a great writing or public speaking (by phone) activity for students with extra time at home.
Please keep us posted at JCHS PTSA about your best advocacy activities and results. Send your stories to
